Евгения Васина делится своими впечатлениями от учебы и жизни в США:
My first experiences in the USA
It was my first time when I came to America. I was very excited, because I did not know anything about this country and culture, and I was looking forward the day of my flight to another world. I wanted to know as much as possible and see the differences between two cultures with my own eyes.
At the beginning it was difficult for me to get used to another time and language. My English was not so good, so I tried to understand everything and spent more time with my host family. My first day at new school was excited. There were many new people for me from the whole world. They all spoke in different language and it was uncomfortable for me, because I couldn’t understand them.
The next days were better; I had different classes with my future friends. It was funny because we didn’t understand each other, but after a while ours English became better. After school we usually went somewhere and spent time together. I’ve never had so many friends from other countries, so it was very interesting for me to learn new information about different cultures and traditions.
In Russia we have so many differences at school. Different system of education, and it was crazy for me. In American school you have the same schedule every day, it wasn’t good for me, so sometimes it was boring because I did the same things every day. Here you can choose any subjects you like. There are different levels of English and Math classes, but in Russia you have to take all classes. I liked to study in English.
Every day I learned new information about this country. I like the way of celebrating holidays very much. Most of all I remember Christmas and Independence day. The only thing I don’t like here – American food. I’ve never eaten fast food. Over time I learned a lot of new information about local traditions and people.
I am very glad that I had such an opportunity to spend the whole year in America. It was a great emotions and experiences for me for my future life. I met many interesting and talented people. Now I have friends from the whole world! This year was the most emotional and memorable of my life. It was amazing practice for my English. I will never forget my new experiences and memories about America.
